John Flores was born and raised in Chicago’s rough and tumble South Side.  He attended Columbia College Chicago’s Film School in 2000 with an emphasis in directing.   He stopped attending college in 2002 when he found a job in New York, only to return to Chicago in 2005 to get serious about his dream on filmmaking.

In 2006, he wrote the script of his first feature film ‘THE TALE OF A SUICIDAL NARCOLEPTIC,’ a romantic comedy about a suicidal narcoleptic store manager who found love and solace through a girl neighbor, but gets complicated when he finds out that the girl is a hooker.  John began production of the film with his lead actor and production partner, Brett Rosenberg.  The film was shot on location in his hometown of Chicago, and wrapped in 2007.  John took the film with him on his move to Southern California.

The film was an official selection at both the ‘2008 Riverside International Film Festival,’ and the ‘Action On Film Festival’ in Pasadena, California.  It garnered a runner up nomination for the Audience Award, Best Dramatic Feature nomination, and a Best Actor Award nomination for his lead actor and partner.

In late 2008, John began production from one of his scripts, entitled ‘FEAR OF FLYING,’ which is a semi autobiographical account of his move to Hollywood.  The film is currently in post production.

His work as a writer has been described by his professors as “quick” and very “real” dialogue.  He is known to be fast, able to turn around a first draft of a feature film in a week.  His style is diverse, able to write dramatic character pieces, or sharp witted comedies.  The one connecting trait in all his works is a strong sense of story telling, with a strong emphasis on building relationships.

John currently resides in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife and two dogs.
